The Écopiège® collar was invented and patented in 2009 for the control of the rapidly spreading pine processionary caterpillar.
This ecological trap acts mechanically. It captures the caterpillars as they descend in procession down the trunk, a critical moment when the danger of serious hives is at its highest. It offers reliable safety for both humans and animals, capturing the caterpillars without any contact with the stinging insect.
Approved by the French National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRAE), the Écopiège® collar has proven to be highly effective in controlling the processionary caterpillar, thus contributing to the reduction of populations.
